Veterans slender win in tight match

Fromeside ESU         1         Ex-Fromeside      2

Jack Baber                                                      Andy McMullen

                                                                       Chris Hayes

After last years heroics it was normal service resumed in this tight match. Despite having more of the play in the first half the Unit found themselves 1-0 down at halftime after a looping header from the unmarked Andy McMullen on 41st minute. The 2nd half saw the Unit coninue to dominate the match without getting the necessary breaks upfront to get back into the game. Midway through the 2nd half the veterans went 2-0 after the Fromeside keeper Elliott failed to hold a corner from Nash leaving Chris Hayes with the simple task to tap the ball over the line from 2 foot. The Unit made it an exciting finish by pulling a goal back with 10 minutes to go after left winger Jack Baber powered into the box and slotted a left foot drive past the helpless Greenwood in goal for the Vets. Despite several near misses Fromeside failed to get the deserved equaliser and a record crowd of 26 and a dog went home having watched another cracking close game.
